History

Kamaroopin

Kamaroopin was launched in 2018 as an investment manager focused on growth equity private investments. KMP was originally established as an affiliate of SK Tarpon, the successor of Tarpon Investimentos, an investment company founded in 2002 in Brazil. Pedro de Andrade Faria, KMP’s founder and managing partner is also one of the founding partners of Tarpon and was directly responsible for Tarpon’s private equity investments.

In this new structure, Kamaroopin was created with the mission to be a company builder, investing and supporting founders to build long-lasting companies and delivering superior value creation to stakeholders. To accomplish this mission, KMP consolidated learning and experience from previous investment activity at Tarpon and started to deploy and consolidate a new investment approach to late-stage venture and growth equities. Since 2018, Kamaroopin originated and led the investment in a new vintage of growth companies such as Consorciei, Petlove and Zenklub, through a series of single deal structures primarily funded by partner’s capital and co-investors.

In late 2021, Kamaroopin entered a strategic partnership and received a significant investment from Patria Investments (“Patria”), the leading alternative asset manager in Latin America, listed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol PAX.

Through this partnership, Patria and KMP have the objective to establish together a leading presence in late-stage venture capital and growth equities. Patria and KMP shared values, investment principles and approach and identified several opportunities to collaborate and strengthen their value proposition as a life cycle investor and operating partner of exceptional companies in Latin America.

Approach

Secular Trends

KMP identifies opportunities supported by secular trends, with a focus on changing consumer habits. KMP has a very hands-on post-investment approach, encompasses a robust value creation agenda to strengthen and differentiate the company’s value proposition.

New strategic organic avenues, M&As, team reinforcement and robust governance agenda are key factors we seek to build long-lasting companies.

Sector-driven

The Fund intends to primarily focus on sectors where KMP already has investment and operational experience, including, but not limited to, healthcare, pet care, education, financial services, and consumer and business services of the green economy.

For each one of the sectors under consideration, KMP has thoroughly formulated investment theses with a focus on secular consumer trends, which KMP believes are driven by innovation, technology, changes in consumer habits and evolving aspirations.
